Core Values

The critical role played by Routt County United Way requires that all of us involved must assume the responsibility of earning public trust. This bond of trust goes beyond legal or regulatory requirements to include our core values and ethics.

To fulfill this special obligation, our core values provide the foundation on which we base our actions and decisions.

We act with integrity that inspires the highest truth. We maintain the highest standards of excellence and accountability, including prudent use of finances, and fair, accurate, and honest disclosures of information.

We make a positive difference and have a measurable impact in our community.

We believe that the most effective models of service and excellence are created through the leadership of volunteers.

We are strong only when we are inclusive. We act in ways that respect the dignity, uniqueness, and intrinsic worth of every person. We aspire to involve every segment of the community in every aspect of our work.

Code of Ethics

Routt County United Way is committed to the highest ethical standards. Based on the unique trust placed in volunteers, staff and representatives to serve the public good, we have a special obligation to act ethically. Our Code of Ethics is based on our mission and guided by our fundamental core values.

Personal and professional integrity
We strive to meet the highest standards of performance, quality, service and achievement in working toward our mission.

We promote good stewardship of Routt County United Way resources, including contributions that are used to pay operating expenses. We refrain from using any organizational resources for non-Routt County United Way purposes.

Solicitations and voluntary giving
We promote voluntary giving in dealing with donors and we refrain from any use of coercion in fundraising activities.

Diversity and equal opportunity
Routt County United Way is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to the principle of diversity.

Conflicts of Interest
We avoid any conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest which could tarnish the reputation of Routt County United Way as well as undermine the public’s trust in all United Way organizations.

Confidentiality and Privacy
Confidentiality is a hallmark of professionalism. We therefore, will ensure that all information, which is confidential, privileged or nonpublic, is not disclosed inappropriately. Specifically, information about the organization, its donors, employees, member agencies/programs, and clients shall be kept confidential except as it is necessary to release such information to Volunteer/ Staff of United Way as required to conduct the business of United Way.                                                                  ( 4/13/05)
