Routt County United Way supports over 30 agencies and programs that are making an impact in the quality of life of Routt County residents by improving education, health and income stability.

Many of these agencies are involved in the Human Resource Coalition and helped to create the Routt County Health and Human Service Plan.

Tutoring & School Readiness, Integrated Community $8,000

School Readiness (ages 0-5) addresses the linguistic, cultural and systemic barriers that are prevalent among immigrant youth and families as they prepare for school and/or achieve a cognitive level to their peers.

Newborn Network, Family Development Center $6,000

Program support for Newborn Network’s Parents as Teachers (PAT). PAT is a proven parent education model featuring intimate, in-home visits with parents and children. The evidence-based home visiting and parent engagement tools demonstreate successful results in the school readiness, literacy, health and development of young children.

Early Childhood Care and Education Tuition Assistance Program, “First Impressions” of Routt County $71,500

Scholarships for the First Impressions Tuition Asssitance Program which is targeted to provide low income families with children birth to five access to quality early learning environments. Includes funding for School Readiness calendar available in English and Spanish.

Tuition Assistance, Hayden Valley Preschool $10,000

Tuition assistance for half day and extended day preschool to support low-income families.



Outreach & Shelter Services for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence, Advocates of Routt County $16,000

Direct services for outreach clients and shelter clients to address intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and teen dating violence in Routt County

24/7 On Call Emergency Interpretation, Integrated Community $5,000

24/7 Emergency interpretation service added in addition to the existing service to remove linguistic and cultural barriers that exist between Spanish-speaking community members, law enforcement and crisis response agencies.

Crisis transportation services, Mind Springs Health $15,000

Safe crisis transportation for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization patients outside our community, primarily at West Springs Hospital in Grand Junction.

Home Health, Northwest Colorado Health $9,500

Home health provides skilled nursing and other care in the comfort and security of patient’s homes for treatment of illness or injury.

Clients In Need, Planned Parenthood $5,000

Provide low or no-cost reproductive health services for teens and young adults up to age 26

QPR/ASIST, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide $3,000

ASIST or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is an intensive free 2-day course provided by Living Works presenters. The volunteers become trained as suicide intervention caregivers gaining the skills to save a life.



Senior Nutrition Program, Routt County Council on Aging $5,000

Provides Congregate meals, meals on wheels, nutrition education and counseling and transportation to meal sites.

LiftUp of Routt County, Emergency Assistance and Food Bank Programs $12,000

Food, housing, healthcare, transient, transitional Housing and Utility Assistance.

Bully Free Program, Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs, $10,000

Bullying prevention program that prevents through a social and emotional learning lens; by teaching children to identify, understand, and express emotions; alternatives to aggressive behaviors, and how to understand and express their own boundaries to others.

Reading on Ranches Camp Scholarship Program, Book Trails, Inc. $2,500

Provide literacy education scholarships to at-risk children to attend the Reading on ranches program.

Elementary In-School Services, Mind Springs Health $8,000

Provide clinical staff to elementary school aged children in all three school , giving the opportunity to engage high risk students in treatment before they experience more serious issues in the family, school, and social settings, districts

Youth Summit, Grand Futures Prevention Coalition $2,000

Youth Summit for middle and high schoolers in Routt County that brings together students in a positive environment to discuss topics such as binge drinking, vaping and marijuana use. It helps students learn healthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress and decision making.

Youth Resiliency, Northwest Colorado Health $8,000

Addresses the feelings of grief and loss that youth experience through small groups and classroom presentations. Offers support and teaches effective ways to express feelings associated with grief as it relates to death of a loved one, divorce, illness, abandonment, addiction, homelessness and disconnection from family

Community Based Mentoring Program, Partners in Routt County $7,500

Serves youth, ages six to 17 that are victims of abuse or neglect, familial incarceration, substance abuse, and other defined criteria.

School Based Mentoring, Partners in Routt County $5,000

Places screened, trained, and supervised mentors in selected Routt County schools. The mentors provide guidance, support and tutoring to high risk youth

Teen Health Education Project, Planned Parenthood $3,000

Provide sexual health education to the three school districts

Youth Counseling, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide $1,000

Program provides free mental health counseling for low income youth who have expressed suicidal ideation and/or depression and anxiety. REPS works with local mental health providers for referrals for this program.

It Takes Courage, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide $2,000

Programs that are hands-on, face-to-face trainings that include a full range of teaching methodologies to counter bullying. Designed for late elementary/middle school children.

Youth Corps, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps $11,000

Increase access to model programs for local youth that provides education, and experience in citizenship, volunteerism, community service and self-development.

Oak Creek School Age Child Care Center, South Routt Recreation Association $10,000

Licensed school age child care for ages 5 to 12 Summer Day Camp and After School Care/ Full Friday programming.

Progressive Outdoor Programming for Underserved Routt Youth, SOS Outreach $3,000

Youth and mentors learn to ski/snowboard and go on overnight wilderness or hut trips. Develops mentor-based leadership capabilities, communication skills, and self-directed goal setting, equipping participants to take initiative in their lives and their communities.

After school programs and summer camp, Totally Kids, Inc. $10,000

After school programming and summer camp for at-risk youth.

The Hub, Hayden Youth Connection $5,000

Middle school and high school youth programming at a safe place with activities that improve self concept of at -risk youth

Social Cognition Therapy Program, Yampa Valley Autism $3,500

Program for children and adolescents with an Autism Spectrum Disorder to engage in therapy. Social cognition is the ability to perceive the emotions and intentions of others.

Hayden After Prom, Hayden School District $500

The after prom party provides a safe, fun and engaging environment for our students free from alcohol, drugs and potentially poor choices.

South Routt After Prom, South Routt School District $500

The after prom party provides a safe, fun and engaging environment for our students free from alcohol, drugs and potentially poor choices.

Steamboat After Prom, Steamboat Springs School District $500

The after prom party provides a safe, fun and engaging environment for our students free from alcohol, drugs and potentially poor choices.

Donor Designation, Girl Scouts $750

Nurturing Father’s Program, Fatherhood Program $1,000

Program offers services that include: evidence-based parenting education, child support guidance, individualized case management, father and child bonding activities, community education and advocacy, and referral services to partnering organizations.

Tuition Assistance, Camp Invention $250

Camp invention is a week long summer camp for students to explore various science modules in astronomy, chemistry, physics, and other subjects. Funding helps children attend whose families cannot afford tuition.
