31 Days of Poverty

In an effort to increase poverty awareness in our community, Routt County United Way is initiating “31 Day of Poverty” in the month of July.  The goal of this awareness program is to both illustrate how pervasive poverty is in our community as well as to educate what is working to help alleviate poverty.  For example, did you know that there are 2,829 families with children living at or below the Routt County Self-Sufficiency Standard?

“31 Days of Poverty” will share daily Routt County poverty facts on Facebook and feature several events, including:

  • July 6, 2016 7:30-9:00am  Coffee and a Newspaper with Routt County United Way and Lift Up of Routt County to discuss 31 Days of Poverty. At Steamboat Pilot & Today conference room.
  • July 13, 2016 7:00pm Special viewing of the award-winning film, Poverty, Inc., followed by a panel discussion.  Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library.
  • July 14, 2016  8:00am Coffee with Dana Duran, Director of Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Colorado, to discuss the family’s toxic stress effects on children.
  • July 20, 2016  8:00am Coffee with the Routt to Work collaborative, a self-sufficiency local program. At Routt County United Way 5th & Oak Street.
