For more than 30 years, Routt County United Way has provided a united effort to anticipate the health and human service needs of our community and to raise and allocate financial resources to help meet these needs through our member agencies.
We work to help kids succeed; impact and stabilize families; assist emergency crisis intervention; and empower people to live healthy lives. In 2013, United Way has two main funding categories: Core Funding (safety net and crisis intervention programs) and Community Impact Funding Areas. Community Impact Funding Areas receiving emphasis for the next 3-5 years are: economic self-sufficiency; at-risk youth; and affordable, high-quality early childhood education and child care. Any agency requesting program funding from Routt County United Way must provide services to Routt County residents that fulfill a human service need.
Routt County United Way is governed by a 20-member volunteer Board of Directors. Our paid staff consists of one full-time director and two part-time assistants. The board meets the second Wednesday of every month from noon to 1:15 p.m. in First National Bank of the Rockies conference room. 2-1-1 is a team of highly trained professionals. We have varying degrees in areas such as communications, psychology and sociology, with advanced studies in emergency preparedness, crisis assessment, information and referral. Including, Nationally Certification of 100% of our staff as Information & Referral Specialists.
2-1-1 // What do we do?
Our team of professionals is trained to perform problem assessments and service navigation from every day concerns through major life-changing events, including natural or man-made crisis and disasters. Our goal is connect callers with available resources in the community to help them in whatever situation they are facing.
2-1-1 // How do we accomplish it?
We are in the business of information and referral, which can involve multiple levels of engagement with a caller.
Basic Information provides a telephone number, address, and/or hours of operation of a service that is requested by the client.
Problem Assessment provides a client with a situational awareness of the life event that the client is experiencing. The 2-1-1 Information & Referral Specialist works with the client to identify the course of action to meet the needs that are identified in the problem assessment.
Follow-up & Advocacy is completed 30, 60, & 90 days following to the referral phase to identify unmet needs of the client, areas of improvement, gaps in services or whether the client needs specialized advocacy to meet their needs.
Comprehensive Database - all phases of the Information & Referral Process uses a highly comprehensive database of community services that range from local, state and national organizations. The database is continuously updated with the most current information available.
